Maybe you’ve been stuck in the same argument for months. Maybe communication feels harder than it used to. Or maybe you love your partner deeply but feel like roommates instead of teammates.
At Outside Therapy, couples counseling helps you move from defensiveness to understanding — so you can stop fighting to win and start working to connect.

There’s no “too soon” or “too late” to start. Many couples reach out when they realize that what used to work… isn’t working anymore.
You might notice:
Constant arguing or stonewalling
Avoiding hard topics to keep the peace
Struggling to express needs or boundaries
Feeling distant, resentful, or emotionally disconnected
Repeating the same fight in different forms
Trouble rebuilding trust after conflict or betrayal
Big life transitions (new baby, move, loss, career changes) stressing the relationship
Therapy gives you a neutral space to talk openly — without judgment or keeping score.
We don’t take sides. We take your relationship’s side.
That means helping both partners feel heard, understood, and supported while learning skills that keep you from falling into old patterns.
Our work blends:
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): to rebuild emotional safety and connection.
Gottman-Informed Techniques: to improve communication, conflict repair, and intimacy.
ACT & DBT Tools: to help regulate emotions and communicate clearly — even during tension.
Whole-Person Wellness: addressing the stress, sleep, and burnout that often fuel conflict.
Each session focuses on small, sustainable changes that create lasting shifts in how you relate to one another.
Couples sessions typically last 50–60 minutes. In your first few meetings, we’ll map out what’s happening between you — identifying the patterns, triggers, and unmet needs that drive disconnection.
From there, you’ll learn to:
Recognize and de-escalate conflict before it spirals
Communicate emotions instead of accusations
Repair after arguments instead of letting resentment grow
Rebuild intimacy and shared goals
Sessions are available in person in Cheyenne or online anywhere in Wyoming.
Most couples notice improvement within the first few sessions once they begin applying these tools at home.

Healthy communication doesn’t mean never arguing — it means knowing how to handle conflict in a way that strengthens the relationship instead of damaging it.
Couples who go through therapy often report:
Feeling more connected and secure
Reduced tension and defensiveness
More productive conversations
Renewed physical and emotional closeness
A stronger sense of “we”
Whether you’re dating, married, or somewhere in between — you deserve a relationship built on understanding, not survival mode.
Our couples counseling doesn’t exist in isolation. We integrate emotional wellness, stress management, and even physical health factors into your plan — because relationships don’t thrive when either partner is running on empty.
We meet you where you are, whether that’s rebuilding after years of conflict or fine-tuning a solid partnership before it derails.
